By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Darnell_Scott]Darnell Scott When you borrow to get an education, you invest in a valuable asset. You do so with the hope that it will boost your career prospects, your quality of life, and your future pay packet. Putting a dollar value on your earning potential will help you determine if borrowing for your qualification is money well spent. The loan is a contract between you and the lender, where you agree to pay it back. In most cases, choosing a loan is fairly cut-and-dried. You’ll need to find a lender, complete the paperwork of application and wait for approval. There is no getting out of this, and it will not be written off if you go overseas. Only your death or bankruptcy writes off the loan, so it pays to take it seriously. Some of the more popular types of loans are Stafford, Perkins, HEAL, and PLUS loans. Student loans are substantially subsidized by the government which carry low interest rates. As a result, you do not significantly add to the debt principal by paying it off over the term of the loan. Be wary to borrow only what you need. The more you borrow, the more you have to pay back. To determine how much money you’ll need for your education, calculate your study costs and your living costs. Study costs are the costs you incur as part of your course. This includes the course fee which is what the institution charges to teach you, and course-related costs what youll have to pay to take part in the course. This would include textbooks, stationery and other study material. Living costs is the amount you need to house, clothe, feed and transport you while you are studying. If you’re keen to minimise your debt, then use your student loan for fees and course-related costs only. Dont forget to explore other sources of money. There are several sources of potential income available to you as a student. Try and cover your living expenses from your savings, from a part-time job, or if possible by living at home. A student allowance or benefit, scholarships, part time work, savings or help from your family would greatly help you to reduce the amount you borrow. Know the true cost of your loan. It’s not just the sum you borrow, it’s the time it takes to pay off and the interest the principal amount will accumulate over time. And whether you pay back just the minimum or get rid of the loan sooner; is completely up to you. Student loan interest rates are variable, meaning they change from year to year. Once you graduate, you can consolidate the student loans, which allow several added benefits; mainly locking-in their current interest rate. This means the discounted grace period interest rate can be maintained until the loan is paid off. Student loans won’t go away and you can’t get out of them. If you stay on top of your student loan today you’ll find that it wont become too great a burden tomorrow. By Eric Morris When a man and woman come together in marriage, they are symbolizing their union of two becoming one. To represent this union in their rings, many couples choice to purchase a wedding ring set for the man and woman. Wedding ring sets can be found at most jewelers. Depending on the style of the ring, they generally do not have a higher cost compared to non-matching sets. Thus, the decision to purchase a matching wedding ring set for the man and woman has more to do with personal preferences. Does the woman have an overly ornate wedding band? If so, the husband may opt for a simpler version to wear. However, if the bride-to-be’s band is more simple, with engraved designs or a particular polish, the man may be more willing to wear a matching band. There are many types of metals to choose from, as well as different types of stone settings, and other designs. The most popular metals are gold, platinum, titanium, and silver. Couples will want to consult each other in order to choose a band that suits them both. Purchasing a wedding ring is an important process that some spend months debating. A wedding ring set may not be perfect for everyone, as every couple will not have the same fashion style. However, for others, it is the perfect way to show that two have become one. By Carlos Lasa, Jr. Have you ever held a bag of marbles in your hand? Believe it or not, this was how my patient’s breasts felt like. She had multiple lumps all over her breasts, the result of multiple injections of silicone oil given a year before her consultation. She felt insecure about her small breasts and she wanted them to be enlarged. Someone told her of a method that was fast and cheap. Nobody told her she was going to end up this way. I have seen a number of patients who have been victimized by glib-talking people extolling the virtues of silicone oil injections. The primary attraction is the cost: “only” $800 for breast enlargement, which is less than half of the average cost for breast augmentation with medical-grade silicone gel implants. For those desiring a noselift, the cost is from $140 to $280. Victims are often “fast-talked” into undergoing the procedure; and they are not given the time to consult with their doctor. Noselifts and breast augmentations are two of the most commonly requested cosmetic surgeries, but there are many who find the expense quite prohibitive. Thus the lure of low-cost injections is hard to resist. When the complications arise, these victims end up spending more. Those whose noses are injected with silicone oil end up with noses looking like the noses of lions - as the silicone oil spreads through the tissues with time, the bridge of the nose flattens out and becomes wider. The skin is often reddish, a result of chronic inflammation of the tissues. The people who perform silicone oil injections are difficult to catch. They do not have any permanent offices. They go from one beauty parlor to another; they transfer from house to house, going wherever there is someone gullible enough to fall for their sales pitch. Thus it is important that people become aware of the dangers of silicone oil injections so that they can avoid its consequences. Dr. Carlos I. By Kay Zahn Have you ever “Googled” yourself? Do it and you may be surprised at how many people share your name or some combination of it. A fact easily verified by opening a local phone book in many cases. On the internet however, there will only be ONE domain name like yours exactly the way you’d like it. The question is, will it be registered to you or to someone else with whom you share a name? Don’t Let someone else take YOUR name online.. Even if you don’t use it for now, you should register and claim your family name before someone else does. Aside from the many reasons you may have for wanting to own your name on the internet, your number one reason should be CONTROL. Control over your content your address, your email, your online identity. Do you remember when you had to worry about changing your phone number if you changed your phone service company? Well it was never like that on the internet, but you had to know that to take advantage of it. It was widely assumed that people needed to be assigned their personal domain address rather than choose it. By making this assumption of course the ISP has their name out there floating around with your communications which helps their marketing efforts. It’s true that some of the services being offered can be a bit overwhelming but don’t be distracted by all the services that come with everybody’s different package. Take what you need and leave the rest (as the saying goes) but take 5 minutes today and Register Your Family Name. Then it can be yours to build upon forever. It’s so easy these days there is no excuse not to claim your name online NOW. Register your personal or family DOMAIN name and then learn to control it. Most online service providers provide you with easy to use interfaces where you control where requests for your domain are directed. You can keep your current email service provider and ISP. Just register your name and set up an email address that you have forwarded to your current address. Then when and if you ever leave that service provider YOU control your domain name and can simply have your email forwarded somewhere else. The same thing applies to your web site. Whether you want a commercial web site or a family gathering spot, a blog or just a place that you can use to store important stuff online. You are going to want an address to remember, and what could be easier than your name. Your domain services (email, web site, blog) can be located anywyere you want, you can use your domain name to “point” to the correct place. It never ceases to amaze me when I see people using email addresses that will virtually ensure they will be forgotten. If you want to be remembered, get an address that belongs to “you and yours” so you can build your online identity around it. If you go through life with an AOL.com address and WANT someone to remember you, trust me they won’t. Why? Because commercial services like MSN, AOL even Yahoo.com and Google Gmail are just TOO BIG. Trying to come up with a unique name results in a lot of obscure “add ons”. You know the ones. Shannon4994 might be easy for Shannon to remember because she was married on April 9th 1994, but for anyone else it may as well be a foreign language. There’s no reason to settle for such obscurity. Register Your Family Name TODAY. It could be the most important 5 minutes of your online future. By Agust Hauksson There are so many different types of tanning lotions on the market today. You will find that when you go to purchase one, you will have a lot of information to take in. You should read the instructions and directions on all of the bottles to make sure that you choose the right one for you and your skin type. Finding the right tanning lotion could make all the difference when it comes to the perfect tan. There are three main types of tanning lotions. You should figure out what type of tan you are looking for to decide on the right product for you. An accelerator is a product that will boost the level of tanning cells in your skin. With the application of an accelerator when you shower in the morning, your skin will generate the tanning cells before you have your tanning session for the day. This will help you to tan almost immediately when you start the tanning process. There are also amplifiers for tanning. This is a product that will create a moist barrier on your skin. This will trap rays that may have normally been reflected away. This will allow you to absorb as many tanning rays as you possibly can. This is a good idea also to keep your skin moist and looking good. Bronzers are also great tanning lotions. This is a product that has a dye in it and will change the color of your skin almost immediately. There are some people that love them and there are others that despise them. You should be careful when you are applying the tanning lotions that contain bronzers so that they do not streak on the skin. They need to be applied evenly. You need to also make sure that your skin is moisturized well. If your skin is too dry it will absorb more bronzer than other areas and leave an uneven patch. With a bronzer, you should make sure that you use a good exfoliate before you tan. This will help areas like your elbows, feel, ankles, and knees have a more smooth and silky feel so that the lotion goes on more evenly. You should also make sure that you wash your hands well after you use a bronzer so that it does not stain them. There are also tanning lotions for indoor tanning and outdoor tanning. You need to make sure that you are using the right lotion for the right place. Outdoor tanning lotions have some form of SPF to protect your skin from some of the harmful rays of the sun. Indoor lotions do not have this and you may end up with a burning result if you use indoor lotion outside. Using the outdoor tanning lotions in a tanning bed may work for some. It will depend on the amount of SPF that is in the product. It is always a good idea to tan smart and to make sure that you have the right protection that you want. You can look good with a great tan when you use the right tanning lotions. Copyright 2006 - Agust Hauksson. Agust is a regular contributor of articles to many online publications. By Antigone Arthur Ritual symbolism abounds in everything we do; this is particularly the case when an individual commits their love and devotion to another and offers a promise of marriage. The custom of offering and exchanging engagement rings and wedding bands is a time honored tradition rich in symbolism and meaning that has been carried on for centuries. As time has changed so have consumer traditions and buying patterns. The rich tradition of exchanging vows as a symbol of love and devotion is still a traditional time honored ritual practiced in many cultures. Certain aspects of engagement and marriage have changed with time however. Whereas in times of old a couple might take several outings together in search of the perfect engagement rings or wedding bands, in modern times more and more couples are buying engagement rings, wedding rings and wedding bands online. Thanks to the internet and the resulting access to a global marketplace, couples are realizing they have more options available to them all from the comforts of their living room. Some couples are even going to the extreme, not only buying engagement rings, wedding rings and wedding bands online, but also purchasing wedding gowns, flowers and even participating in virtual marriages. How have these changes come about? What can today’s modern couple expect when planning a walk down the aisle? The Engagement Ring The practice of a groom offering his bride to be an engagement ring as a promise of love and affection began nearly 2 centuries ago in the United States; many associate the giving of engagement rings with a need to express implied commitment and understanding forever. The term “A Diamond is Forever” was in fact used as a means of reinforcing the notion that an engagement ring is a commitment from one fianc to another to live a life together in marital harmony forever. The phrase is also a popular advertising catch phrase that reinforces the notion that love and devotion are part of everyday symbolisms that require an outlet for expression. The use of engagement rings as a token of love and affection is a norm that instilled in the hearts and minds of most people, in part due to heavy marketing and advertising from diamond ring and other jewelry manufacturers, and in part based on the needs of mankind to project symbolism into everyday living. Wedding Rings Once a couple has decided to walk down the aisle together, the next step is often purchasing wedding rings together. Because there are so many different kinds to choose from, it helps to know what distinguishes one wedding band from another. There are several tips that you can follow to ensure that you purchase wedding bands that suit your individual preferences and budget. First and foremost consumers should keep in mind that it certainly pays to do their homework. The best advice for wedding ring shoppers is patience. Couples should take the time to shop around and look at several different wedding bands, and have in mind an idea of what exactly they are looking for. Far too often customers compromise because they feel they can’t find exactly what they are looking for; chances are you can find what you are looking for at a reasonable price, if you give yourself plenty of time to research wedding rings thoroughly before purchasing. An article in Today’s Summer Bride in Summer of 1989 suggested that consumers be patient and shop wisely, but also have faith that they will find what they are looking for. The article was referring to purchase of a wedding gown, but buying wedding rings follows the same logic. You probably didn’t bump into your partner overnight, and likewise you should expect it to take some time to find the perfect wedding rings as symbols of your love and devotion to one another. Marriage represents a commitment and shared love between two people. Wedding ceremonies are often shrouded in symbolism, among the most significant of which is the exchange of wedding rings between husband and wife. Buying Engagement Rings, Wedding Rings and Wedding Bands Online Society is ever changing, and with the advent of technology and access to a global marketplace, more and more consumers are buying engagement rings, wedding rings and wedding bands online rather than shopping for these ritual symbols of devotion in a traditional store. Buying online affords consumers the luxury of perusing the widest selection of rings available from the convenience of their home. Some people have infused the process of buying engagement rings, wedding rings and wedding bands online with romanticism. New rituals and traditions are being built in the face of modern technology. In fact, some couples are planning entire wedding ceremonies through their computers. A virtual ceremony can be broadcast to friends and family members the world over! What advice can we offer the couple interested in shopping for wedding accessories online? Here are some suggestions for a successful venture: Keep an open mind. Know what type of engagement rings (diamond, gemstone, bands) or wedding rings you are looking for, but consider looking at many different varieties. You may change your mind about what type of ring best symbolizes your relationship and love. Make shopping online romantic! Place some candles around the computer, turn on your song and have some wine! Buying engagement rings, wedding rings and wedding bands online can be just as fun and exciting as buying them in person… and even more fun when you create a loving and warm atmosphere. Be prepared to spend a fair amount of time perusing different styles and makes. There are an incredible variety of engagement rings and wedding bands available: titanium, platinum, white gold, traditional gold, silver, gemstone, diamond… the list goes on and on. Once you have reviewed a fair number of styles be sure to compile a list of your favorites to narrow down your search. Know your size! Nothing is more obnoxious than having to have a ring re-sized before you wear it. There are several websites that offer jewelry sizing online. Typically women wear between a size 5-9 and men between sizes 8-12. The average for men: a 10; the average for women: a 7. A Symbol of Your Love and Devotion Ritual symbols such as the exchange of engagement rings and wedding rings are time honored traditions that will likely continue through the next two centuries. Though the manner in which people shop and commit themselves to one another is changing, the time honored tradition of exchanging vows and bands as a symbol of love and devotion will not likely change in the near future. Take advantage of modern technology, and consider buying engagement rings, wedding rings and wedding bands online. You’d be surprised the variety available, and pleasantly surprised by how exciting it can be shopping from the comforts of your living room, office, or bedroom… About The Author: Antigone Arthur is a successful freelance writer with 10 years of professional experience providing consumers with informative articles on such topics as engagement ring design, and diamond wedding rings. By Michael Russell Legal ownership is not the only criterion for classifying something in accounting terms as an asset; for instance, someone buys an item on hire purchase but does not become the owner of that item until the full purchase price has been paid. Nevertheless, the item is still recorded as an asset together with the corresponding obligation. Similarly, although a lessee never becomes the owner of the item leased, he may record that item as an asset providing that the corresponding obligation is also shown. In an accounting sense ‘ownership’ usually implies ‘legal ownership’, but there are exceptions; an interest in a tangible or intangible object, or a right to value, combined with the right of possession and the right of use also constitutes an asset for the interested party. If a person is the owner of the value or economic benefit arising from a specific source, then that source is an asset for the person concerned and he is the economic owner, although he may not be the legal owner. In such case accounting substance should take precedence over legal form in ascertaining the most suitable accounting procedure. The chief function of accounting is to determine profits. The generation of income, however, requires capital investment in order to provide the facilities needed by an enterprise to operate continuously and indefinitely. Historically, expenses that are incurred by not allocated as a cost during a period are deferred costs. From an accounting point of view, they represent an asset. If these costs can be recovered within a year, they are current assets and if they are recoverable over a longer period they are fixed assets. This classification of assets is essential for determining profits and also to show the enterprise’s position at a specific time, in other words, the composition of its assets and the nature of its obligations. The purpose of acquiring fixed assets is to use them to generate income. They are not acquired for the purpose of resale. The fixed assets must produce goods that generate income, or in other words, they must be used in the business’ operations. The largest category of fixed assets in accounting terms is tangible, such as buildings, machinery and vehicles. Land that is not subject to depreciation or depletion through use, since it is never ‘consumed’ is also considered as a tangible fixed asset. When evaluating buildings, machinery and vehicles these assets are subject to depreciation that must be apportioned annually as a cost. Natural resources that, through use, are also subject to depletion, such as mines, oil and gas wells and plantations are also considered as tangible fixed assets. Another group of assets is intangible fixed assets such as patents, copyrights, trademarks’ and goodwill. Deferred expenses and debits such as the preliminary expenses of a company are also considered in accounting terms as intangible fixed assets. Finally, the last to be considered as an asset are external assets also known as investments. These include fixed period investments earning a fixed income, investments in ordinary shares of other companies, sundry investments such as pension funds, housing schemes and insurance policies and, lastly, investment properties. By Lizel Salter In this day and age where eating healthy has become so important, so many people do not like to eat fruit and vegetables. Even though they know it is good for them, they still prefer not to eat it. It can be very difficult getting used to a healthy lifestyle if all you are used to, is take away fast food. The first change is having to get home and cook. Immediately you loose about halve an hour of your “alone” time. What is important thought, is to think of this as an opportunity to spend this time with your children and husband/wife. Make it fun and interesting. Dont loose your smile when you think that you will have to eat more fruits during the day and evening. There is a very easy solution that will be fun for the whole family. I think smoothies are one of the greatest inventions of our time. I know you get a lot of fruit juices and they are truly great, but some of the manufacturers do add a lot of sugar. Try to keep the sugar intake low by making your own. All you need is a blender, or smoothie maker and fruit. It is that simple. Try to play with the flavours. You can add whatever you like. If you do not try it, how will you know if you like it or not? My husband and I played around with some flavours the past weekend and I can tell you, it tasted great. You can get recipe books for how to make smoothies, but as I said, make it up as you go along. First we tried mixing banana, strawberries, kiwi fruit, grapes and plain yoghurt. It tasted LOVELY. This is not a sweet combination, so if you have a sweet tooth, maybe you should try our second recipe. The next one we tried, we used a mango, banana, yellow melon and yoghurt. This was n sweeter option, but the banana was a little strong. Maybe you should try to use only halve a banana or replace it with some other fruit. We thought that next time we will try to replace it with a strawberry or two. Dont know how it will taste, but we will definitely try. Making smoothies is a great time to spend together, learning to listen to each other and compromise on what fruit you want to try and just have GREAT fun! It will definitely tickle your laughing muscles, believe me. Go on, try to make your own smoothie and have a great time! By Victor Epand Me and my husband going to my friends wedding and I am wearing an oriental style dress that is in a champagne/gold color. The Chinese are big into silver, jade (a semi-precious stone which is usually a light, translucent green, but does come in other colors) and turquoise (another semi=precious stone which is a vivid opaque blue and usually marbled with white and/or black veins). Because your gown is gold I would recommend sticking with gold jeweler. If your dress is adorned with a beautiful pattern as they so often are, I’d recommend some simple earrings such as diamond studs or delicate diamond drops. I would choose a dainty watch or bracelet (in just plain gold or with a little bit of sparkle), wearing both with an ornate dress would look too much and take away from the dress. If the dress is plain then do go for more ornate jeweler with colored gemstones (you can get away with silver with a plain dress, its also cheaper and more readily available!). If you go to any web site and type in ‘Chinese earrings’ and then click on ‘images’ it gives you some great ideas. The round Chinese symbol drop earrings are nice and some of the chandelier styles look very pretty (although some of these are more ‘Asian’ than specifically Chinese). You can also get away with the bracelet and watch together. Is your gent brave? If so, a pink or lilac shirt would look fab with his charcoal suit. It’s a very modern look and if he’s not wearing a tie then an open top button would look great. White will look dated and if he goes for yellow to tone with you, it’s just not going to go well with the grey. Black is a good color and certain blues, but it HAS to be the right blue so you’d need to choose carefully. When you go shopping, take the suit jacket if you can to help you find a good match. For a more formal style wedding then a black dress (cocktail type) is okay as long as it is an appropriate style and won’t detract from the bride. If the wedding is early in the day then I’d forego black for a soft color. Another time that black or white is appropriate is if the bride wants a “black/white” wedding and requests guests to wear one or the other. According to my sources, for a formal day-time wedding, women should wear elegant short dresses or suits and men may wear a dark suit. Then you’ll want to change into a long evening gown and tux for the reception. Without knowing the other colors in your wedding, it is hard to tell you exactly what would work. However, in general you should stick to lighter colors for daytime events. Red, yellow, gold, light silver and any pastel color would be appropriate. Darker colors such as black, plum, burgundy, hunter green, etc. are more appropriate for evening hours. If you’re still set on the color black, however, you may just want to change the length of the dress. A black tea-length or cocktail-length dress would be appropriate for an afternoon ceremony. By Morgan Hamilton I just moved into a new town a few weeks ago so I was feeling rather lonely. Now, it’s not that I didn’t know how to meet women, but that I was just in a whole different scene. This is because I grew up in a pretty small, but liberal town. It is easy to meet women in a small town that you are familiar with. In my hometown, there were local parties all the time, everyone knew everyone, and enough new people moved in and out to keep things interesting and fresh. However, understanding how to meet women became much more difficult when I relocated into a large city. For instance, I never really figured out how to talk to attractive women at bars. It was not an issue of shyness because Im not a shy person. I think that its because I was used to a more intimate environment. Approaching a stranger is a much more daunting task even if I knew how to meet women at local parties where I already knew many of the guests. Of course, I tried every trick that I could imagine. However, the pickup lines and dating services I tried did not work. Nothing seemed to come through for me even after I posted my personal on how to meet women websites. My romantic life remained rather bleak, even if I had a few dates and made some good friends. I also knew that I would never find happiness in the big city if I did not learn how to meet women soon. In my desperation, I finally tried one of those self-esteem coaching schemes. I disregarded the fact that it sounded pretty silly because I cant think of anything else. Anyway, it seemed to me that the speaker really seemed to know how to meet women and the techniques that he showed me really worked. I was able to approach any one that I wanted to after I took that coaching scheme. However, I had learned nothing about how to meet women that appealed to me. The tricks and tips that I’ve learned do not work with women who are my type. I can easily approach women who are easily impressed by a clever line delivered with self-confidence. On the other hand, cheap male bravado are ineffective when used on women who are deep, intelligent, and soulful. Oh well, perhaps I should just go back to my hometown.
